Booking a Tour

Deposit: A deposit of 25% of the total trip cost must accompany all reservation requests via email, telephone or in person with One Planet Conservation Tours (OPCT) personnel, and for online reservations. Please note that $50 of the deposit is an admin fee that is non-refundable for any cancellation for any reason. You can pay directly into our bank account, or we can provide you with a payment link via email.


Final Payment: The final payment is due 30 days before your travel date.


Refunds: If for any reason you need to cancel your trip with OPCT, please notify us as soon as possible. Please note that when you book a trip with OPCT, we reserve your accommodations, transport and activities ahead of time. Our partners have their own cancellation policies that we must also adhere to.


Below is the OPCT cancellation policy:

  •  If you cancel 30 or more days from the departure date we are able to refund 100% of your trip cost (minus admin fee).

  • If you cancel 29 or fewer days from the departure date, we are unable to provide a refund.


In extreme circumstances: Changes to this cancellation policy may be possible at the discretion of OPCT directors. We recommend that all of our travelers obtain a personal insurance policy that will cover them in the case of trip/flight cancellation, interruptions to the schedule, and lost or damaged baggage.

If OPCT cancels travel after the final payment is due: Clients can transfer to another trip that departs within twelve months of the original scheduled departure. If the trip the guest transfers to has a lower price, the difference will be refunded. If the tour has a higher price the balance will be due at the final payment date for the new tour.

Special Requests: Individual requests must be made when booking. Requests for special dietary needs, disability access, or other room types are subject to confirmation and cannot be guaranteed.

Children On Tour: Children under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult over 21 years of age.

Reservation Changes: Requests for changes of any kind should be made prior to the final payment date. A non-refundable processing fee of $50 per person will apply for any change requested prior to the final payment date.


Additional Information

Gratuities: Tips for meals, excursions, transportation, or other services are at your discretion. We recommend a 10% gratuity in restaurants and on tours.

Health and Medical Insurance: OPCT does not offer any Travel Protection Insurance for our travelers, therefore we highly recommend that you purchase a personal insurance to protect you in the event of an accident or injury. We will be unable to take clients on a tour if they are not able to provide proof of valid medical insurance.

Each traveler also should discuss any required vaccinations or medications recommended for travel to Costa Rica with their doctor prior to their trip, as this can change over time.
